Re-using Storage Units: Dispatched Storage Units
We’ve updated how the system handles storage unit types to better track assets leaving your facility. Specifically, if a storage unit type is configured with "Leaves Warehouse?" set to Yes, it will now transition to a "Dispatched" status upon departure.
What’s Changed?
Once a storage unit is dispatched:
It moves to a new Dispatched section on the Storage Units screen.
The specific record is retired and cannot be reused. (Important to note: The Storage Unit reference can be reused if a new storage unit is created using the old reference, but the previous record will not be able to be reused).
How to Verify a Unit's Status
If you are looking for a specific reference and can't find it, follow these steps:
Navigate to Settings > Storage Units.
Search for your Storage Unit Reference.
Check the View:
If it appears in the default view, it is still active in the warehouse.
If it doesn't appear, scroll to the In Warehouse filter at the bottom and change it to Dispatched.
If the unit appears under the "Dispatched" filter, it is officially locked and out of circulation.
Recommended Workarounds
If you need to continue using a reference that has been dispatched, you have two primary options:

| Manual Reuse | Create a new storage unit using the same reference name. | Allows you to keep the same naming convention while maintaining a clean history for the old unit. |
| Configuration Change | Set the "Leaves Warehouse?" toggle to No for that unit type. | Prevents units from ever entering "Dispatched" status, but may disrupt shipments or external crossdock workflows. |
