This guide explains how to create and complete a Works Order to combine products from a Bill of Materials (BOM) to create a new parent product. It also covers using a handheld scanner for processing. This process helps manage inventory and production efficiently within Clarus WMS.



Step-by-Step Guide

1. Prepare Before Creating a Works Order

Before you create a Works Order, make sure of the following:

  • Products must be in the system: Check that all products you need are entered in Clarus WMS.
  • Stock availability: Ensure products are booked in and you have enough stock.
  • Create the Bill of Materials (BOM): This is a list of all items required to make the parent product.

2. Create the Works Order

Go to Goods Out > Works Order

From the home menu, select Goods Out, then Works Order.


Create a New Works Order

On the Works Order screen, click +New.


Fill in the Works Order Details

Enter all the necessary information for the Works Order.


Add the Bill of Materials

Add the BOM in the product field. The system will automatically recognise which products are needed.


Click Save

Once you have entered all the details, click Save.


Check Status

The Works Order status will now be shown as Pending.


Process Picks

Select the Works Order you just created, then click Save and Process Picks. The status will change to Allocated.


3. Complete the Works Order Using the RF Scanner

Log In to the RF Scanner

From the RF scanner's main menu, select Conversions.

AlertREMEMBER: Conversion tasks only appear after you have completed pick tasks for the Works Order.


Select Next Conversion Task

Click Next Conversion Task to see a list of Works Order tasks.


Select the Task

Choose the task you want by clicking Select.


Review the Task Information

Check the conversion task details. Click Next if everything is correct.


Confirm Product Code

Re-enter the product code in the Confirm Product Code field and click Next.


Confirm Quantity

Enter the quantity of the product and click Next.


Complete the Task

The system will confirm that the task is completed. Click Next to finish.


Repeat for Additional Tasks

If you have more Works Orders, repeat this process for each one.


4. Final Steps

Once all tasks are complete, the Works Order status will be updated to Completed on the Works Order screen.

The parent product will now be listed in stock, and your warehouse can start picking stock for the finished product.
