This guide explains what sequences are in Clarus WMS and how to create them. Sequences are vital for consistent naming across storage units, consolidated pick merges, and product codes, helping to keep your operations organised and efficient.
First, open the Clarus WMS menu on the left side of your screen. Then, go to Settings and select Sequences.
Click the New button to begin creating your new sequence.
You will see five fields. Each field is important for setting up how your sequence will work.
REMEMBER: Pay close attention to each field, as they define the unique identifier, descriptive name, starting characters, and initial number for your sequence. This is a unique identifier for your sequence. For example, use 'STD' for a standard pallet sequence.
This is the descriptive name for the sequence, such as 'Standard Pallet Sequence.' It should clearly explain the sequence's purpose.
This is the text that will appear at the start of each generated name. For example, if you use 'PAL', the first generated sequence might be 'PAL001.'
This sets the starting number for your sequence. If you enter '001,' the first item will be 'PAL001.' Subsequent numbers will increase by one, unless you provide a specific storage unit reference.
You may find a description field available to add extra notes or context about the sequence. This is not always required.
Here’s how to create a sequence for standard pallets:
Code: Enter 'STD.'
Name: Enter 'Standard Pallet Sequence.'
Prefix: Enter 'PAL.'
Next Number: Enter '001.'
The first new pallet will be named 'PAL001,' then 'PAL002,' and so on. The sequence only increments if a specific reference isn’t given for the storage unit.
WARNING: Always double-check all fields before saving to prevent mistakes or duplicate entries.Sequences ensure consistent naming conventions in Clarus WMS for managing storage units, organising product codes, and handling pick merges, making item tracking and management easier.
Always use descriptive names for your sequences to avoid any confusion later on. This helps others understand the purpose of each sequence.
Choose a prefix that matches your organisation’s existing naming rules. This helps maintain consistency across all your naming structures.
Yes, you can define the starting point of your sequence by entering a logical number in the 'Next Number' field, suitable for the sequence's intended use.
