Storage unit types are the physical containers or pallets where your stock is kept. They help keep your inventory tidy and easy to track. The three standard unit types are: Standard Pallet (STD), Euro Pallet (EURO), and Tote Box (TOTE).
To access and manage storage unit types in Clarus WMS, go to the left-hand panel, then navigate to Settings > Storage Unit Types. Here, you'll see a list of all existing types, which you can view, edit, or create new ones.
If you need a new storage unit type for your warehouse, follow these steps:
1. Select "New" in the storage unit types list.
2. Fill in the required information:
Once you've filled in all the details, remember to save your new storage unit type.
After creating a new storage unit type, you need to link it to the relevant products. Here's how:
1. Go to the Product Screen in Clarus WMS.
2. Find the product you want to edit and click Show.
3. Go to the Product Storage Unit Section and add the storage unit types you need.
You can assign as many unit types as required to a product. The unit type at the top of the list will be the default. You can reorder the list by dragging your preferred unit type to the top.
When you receive stock into your warehouse, the system will automatically select the primary storage unit type linked to that product. However, you can change the unit type manually before you finish the receipt if needed.
This also applies when you're importing data, for example, with a pre-receipt import. In such cases, you just need to enter the storage unit type's code (e.g., EURO, TOTE, STD) in the relevant field.
