Validation for SBD and BBD - Preventing Out of Date Stock

Validation for SBD and BBD - Preventing Out of Date Stock

To improve inventory accuracy and reduce waste, we have introduced a new validation component to the Handheld Device (HHD) system. The system now automatically compares any entered Sell By or Best Before date against the current system date and time.

This safeguard is designed to prevent out-of-date stock from being accidentally received or entered into the system.

Important to Note: This will need to be manually set up before it can be used, feel free to reach out to the support team for setup

How it Works: A Practical Example

To see the validation in action, consider a standard "blind receipt" workflow:

  1. Date Entry: Suppose today’s date is 11/03/2026. If a user attempts to enter an expired date (e.g., 10/03/2025), the system triggers an immediate alert.

  2. Error Handling: Upon trying to progress, an error message is displayed, blocking the user from proceeding with a date in the past.

  3. Correction: Once the date is corrected to a valid future date (e.g., 12/03/2026), the system validates the entry and allows the user to complete the flow.

Note: This validation component functions identically for both Sell By and Best Before date fields.
