This article explains how to configure picking rules within Clarus WMS to optimise your stock management. You can adjust pick types, rules, and optimisation settings for pick lists generated under specific accounts.
To begin, view the desired account within Clarus WMS. Then, scroll down to the Picking tab to access its settings.
Pick rules define how stock is prioritised. You can select either Standard Picking or Tote Picking. Here are the available stock selection methods:
Prioritises stock with the most recent best before date. This is ideal for managing perishable goods and reducing waste.
Picks the oldest stock received first. This ensures that older inventory is used before newer arrivals.
Picks the most recently received stock first. This is useful for products where the latest batch should be used sooner.
Prioritises stock based on the earliest sell-by date. This helps ensure compliance with retail requirements.
Used for date-coded stock to ensure optimal turnover and freshness.
Prioritises picking part units first. This helps to minimise unnecessary handling and keeps storage units intact.

FIFO (First In, First Out) picks the oldest stock first, while LIFO (Last In, First Out) picks the newest stock first.

This optimisation feature prioritises picking partial units of stock first, which helps to reduce unnecessary handling and maintain the integrity of storage units.
