This article explains how to configure and use batch picking in Clarus WMS. Batch picking helps improve efficiency by allowing you to pick multiple orders at once, reducing travel time and optimising your warehouse operations.
First, you need to define your picking area in Clarus WMS. Navigate to the Warehouse Management module, then select Locations. Create or edit a location and ensure it is designated as a Picking Area.
Next, set up the rules for how batches are created. Go to System Settings, then Picking Rules. Here, you can define criteria such as the maximum number of orders per batch or the total number of items. This helps Clarus WMS group orders effectively.
To create a batch, go to the Order Fulfilment module and select Batch Picking. Choose the orders you wish to include in the batch. Clarus WMS will then generate a pick list for the entire batch.
REMEMBER: Ensure all selected orders are ready for picking before creating a batch. With your pick list in hand, you can now action the batch. Follow the sequence on the pick list to collect all items for the batch. As you pick each item, scan it using your mobile device or input it manually into Clarus WMS to confirm.
WARNING: Always double-check item quantities and locations to avoid errors.Once all items in the batch are picked, bring them to a consolidation area. Here, you will sort the items by individual order and prepare them for packing and dispatch. Use the Dispatch module in Clarus WMS to process each order for shipping.
Yes, you can mix different item types in a single batch pick, as long as they are part of the orders included in that batch. Clarus WMS will generate a pick list that consolidates all required items.
If an item is out of stock during a batch pick, you should mark it as such in Clarus WMS. The system will then highlight the shortage, allowing you to decide whether to partially fulfil the order, wait for restock, or remove the order from the batch.
You can track the progress of a batch pick in the Batch Picking section of the Order Fulfilment module. Clarus WMS provides real-time updates on which items have been picked and which orders within the batch are complete.
Yes, it is possible to cancel a batch pick, but it is not recommended once picking has begun. If you need to cancel, navigate to the active batch in Clarus WMS and select the Cancel Batch option. Any picked items will need to be returned to their locations.
