Packing Desk User Guide

The packing desk is a new feature, improving the functionality of packing by giving you a visual representation of the packing process, allowing for more clarification and information. The below user guide will explain how to use it.

1. Accessing the Packing Desk

  1. Navigate to the Goods Out tab in the main menu.

  2. Select Packing Desk.

 

You will now see the main Packing Desk screen, which displays all current pack tasks associated with a pick list and provides the following key functionalities:

  • View Current Pack tasks – See all pack tasks awaiting processing.

  • Assign a Printer – Ensure labels and documents print to the correct device.

  • Search for Pack tasks – Locate orders using:

    • Storage Unit Reference

    • Sales Order Reference

    • Pick List Reference

    • These can also all be searched for using a scanner/HHD. You'll need to select one of the above 3 options, which will then allow you to either scan or enter them manually.

2. Preparing to Pack

Before you can begin packing, ensure the following requirements are met for the sales order/pick list:

  • Dispatch Strategy: Must be set to Shipment

  • Pack Strategy: A pack strategy must be set. This can either by Pack by Line or Pack by Unit

  • Complete Delivery Address: Must include address lines, postcode, phone number, and email

  • Pick List Status: All pick tasks must be completed to generate pack tasks


3. Starting a Pack

  1. Locate the Pack
    Use the search fields to find the order you want to pack.

  2. Begin the Packing Process

    • You can either scroll to the right and click Begin Pack to start this manually, or scan the reference to begin packing.

    • A new menu will appear with a list of available Storage Unit Types. These can be added or changed via the "Storage Unit Types" menu under the "Settings" tab on Clarus.

    • Select the storage unit type you wish to pack into.


4. Packing Items

Once you select a storage unit type, you’ll be taken to the Packing Screen:

  • Left Panel: Displays the following details:

    • Sales order reference

    • Delivery address

    • Packing notes (if any)

    • Products and their quantities

  • Right Panel (Packing Summary):

    • Shows the contents of your package

    • Shows the package dimensions and updates the total weight when you scan and pack your items.

    • Allows you to change storage unit type if needed

Moving items into the package

  • Scan the items to move them into the packing summary, you can also use the arrows next to the items to manually move them across.

  • Repeat until all items are packed.


5. Finalising the Package

Once all items are packed:

  1. Click Close Package and Print Labels

    • This action completes the packing process.

    • Submits the shipment.

    • Prints shipment labels automatically.

  2. Confirm the package is now reflected as shipped in the Sales Order / Pick List screen.
